Dreary Overcast Monday

Sorry it happens on a day when we celebrate the heroes who lived the words of Jesus as quoted in John 15:13: "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”

There are polls who pronounce the conclusion that most Americans don’t know the meaning of Memorial Day.  I guess I could also cite the NYT who, in contempt, published names of 1000 people who died - allegedly from the Corona Virus.  It might have been meaningful if it were the names of Nursing Home residents who died needlessly because of the careless incompetence of the NY Governor. I also resent the faces of Hollywood “stars” who mindlessly chant “Thank you for your service” as if they knew what that actually means and then revert  immediately to their political posturing from the safety of their ice cream filled kitchens...

We bought new furniture over the weekend, to replace some of the stuff that has become shoddy and badly worn over the years.  A couch and two chairs will join us in a bit… takes a while. We selected pieces made in the USA but it’s pretty hard to get fabrics that don’t originate outside…  Trying to avoid anything Chinese... because we are xenophobic racists…

Busy week:  Golf for the first time since October, Remi, our foster, starts physical therapy; farewell dinner for next door neighbors (social distancing be damned); and the freshening of our back yard with pool opening, power washing and new deck furniture.   Almost old indeed… We need to enjoy every minute of life before the inevitable resurgence of the Covid, as mandated by the dems, takes us all down.

BTW if the crowds in the furnitures stores and the attendant traffic are any measure, VaBch is open… Some were wearing masks but no more than 50%…
